In other news: I'm working on a new design for this weblog, using Pivot's latest and greatest. Which means this here log will probably move to a new directory soon. I'll keep you posted! For now, I'm still struggling to get the tagcloud feature up and running...

38 weeks... and still growing.

Meanwhile, I'm slowly getting a tiny bit bored. I haven't been outside for days (no, three steps in the garden to feed the robin don't count, and neither do the five steps it took me to get the garbage can back in from the street), because walking is just a bit too much of an effort. I've finished the new baby's doll, the house hasn't been this clean in years, reading all day isn't all it's said to be, and neither is gaming. Anyone got any cool sites for me to peruse on the internet? Because I think I've all seen mine... about three hundred times by now.

Oh, and my pregnancy diabetes seems to have magically disappeared! Or maybe it wasn't there in the first place? We'll probably never know. I'm still keeping to my diet though, just to make sure. And the baby's still a bit bigger than your average kiddie. But I'm not going to think about that. Too much.

P.S. Labour's not going to be induced at 40 weeks either, now that the glucose levels are back to normal. So I could still be moaning and waggling for... weeks?! Ugh! Not going to think about that either!

Being monitored by internist, diabetes nurse and gynaecologist... Will hopefully have more news next week. If it were my call, I'd say: induce labour now please! I want - no, need - to be able to walk again instead of waggle, sleep instead of moan all night...

Bah. Don't think this diet is really working. My sugar levels were still too high! So I'm now also doing the torture-yourself-at-home routine, i.e., I'm checking my sugar levels 7-8 times a day by pricking my finger and feeding the resulting drop of blood into this little machine, which then spits out a glucose level that I have to note down. Going to have to phone in the results this Thursday, and then we'll see what happens. Also, another gynaecologist's appointment next week. In other words: I'm being monitored inside out.

Baby's already on the big side, but it should be okay, or so my gynaecologist said today. Regardless, they won't let this pregnancy go beyond 40 weeks; if she's still not born by that time, they're going to induce labour. I think maybe I'm going to go upstairs now and swap the tiny baby clothes in my hospital suitcase for a somewhat bigger size... perhaps I should take some of Olivier's spare clothing? I'm having these visions of a humongously fat baby - tiny head, HUGE body...

When I read Mig's piece on orchestra rehearsals, I miss mine.

I kind of stopped playing after Olivier was born (almost three years ago, gasp!). As in: I tried, but what with the feeding and the sleep deprivation and all that, I just... couldn't muster the energy anymore. But lately (nice planning, Meike, now that you're almost about to give birth to kid number two), I've been thinking about starting all over again. It's just that we moved to another town, so I'd have to find a new teacher, and what if all the amateur orchestras around here are just too good for me, and the house is so noisy, and and and.

Well, you get the picture. But still. I do really miss my viola. It shouldn't be up there in the attic all by itself, poor thing. I'm going to get it down. No, correct that: Pieter's going to get it down for me, because however much I love it, I'm not going to risk a nasty fall. Nope. And once it's down, I'm going to unwrap it and just...caress it for a while, I think. Let's see how that goes.

Well blah. It is very, very quiet here today at work. There's only three of us! All the rest of them are still lost in transit somewhere, I believe. Being rained on, or blown away. Sitting on trains or trams, waiting to be moved.

It's funny how when it's empty at the office, your work ethos drops below zero. Like you don't have to do anything when it's quiet. Thus I now find myself sitting here, contemplating the benefits of getting up and walking the five paces it would take me to pour another hot chocolate into my ridiculously large sheep mug. Or maybe I could even go to the loo! Or take the elevator downstairs to drop off a package at the post office! The possibilities are endless.

I'd much rather be at home though, making cakes, baking soup. O no, that's wrong (it's all Olivier's fault. He thinks one bakes tea, instead of brewing it. It sort of changed the way I see things.). Or else torturing wool & cloth into another doll. Or playing Guild Wars, or Sims 2 Pets. Wouldn't that be grand.
