August 2001 - June 2004

§ Saturday 18 June 2005

You know you're getting old when you can't take two parties on as many consecutive nights anymore. Urrr.

Anyway.

We're off! Summer holidays; back in two weeks. Behave yourselves! ;-)

§ Tuesday 14 June 2005

My body goes through the motions, but my mind still sleeps.

And there's so much that needs to be done! Last week at work before 21 days of unadulterated holiday bliss.

P.S. Olivier's almost back to his normal self. Fever's gone, the snot's still there, and (at least) two molars and one regular tooth have been added to the collection. He won't open his mouth wide enough for me to see. Or if he does, he quickly snaps it shut again, effectively trapping my finger. Ouch, you filthy little &%#$#!!! ;-)

§ Wednesday 08 June 2005

Went home today after only an hour at the office, because Olivier's daycare centre called to ask if I could please come pick him up. High fever again, yay. Poor little baby. He was crying his heart out when I got there, snot all over his face. Took him ages to fall asleep here at home.

The weather's gorgeous out, though there's a chilly wind. If the neighbours would just turn down their music, I might even enjoy the sun for a bit. What does it take for someone like me to settle down and be happy? Become a hermit?

§ Monday 06 June 2005

Can anybody tell me when my f**cking neighbours will finally move? Because I've just about had it with their shouting, their boom boom music, their kids with their stupid scooters and even dumber friends. I'm trying to live here and I want some peace and quiet. Is it so hard to NOT shout at each other for once? To have a normal conversation without half the street being able to follow it?

And please. Let the new people be decent. Please. Please. Please.

Thank you. I'll now go back to my chair and let my poor battered fatburned bodyshaped body wither away for a while. There's a documentary on about people who'd like to whistle for a living. Perfect.

§ Sunday 05 June 2005

After almost 18 months, It seems I've finally gotten used to the getting up early part. Because when I called to get an appointment at the hairdresser's last Friday, 9.15 in the morning sounded just fine to me. That's a first!

And now I've got new hair. :-) The thing I love best about getting my hair cut is washing it for the first time and feeling it all soft and light and... less. Almost the best feeling in the world, for a hair freak like me!

The house is quiet for a little while; Olivier & daddy are out. The Ipod's on shuffle. I'm going to get some more coffee and just sit for a while. Have a good Sunday!

§ Wednesday 01 June 2005

Oh,  what the hell. Let's write another entry today. :-)

I've just ordered a copy of Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian, and when googling the author, I stumbled across the following site: Meet the author.
It has hundreds of (well known and not so well known) authors talking about their own books in short videoclips. What a good idea! Well worth a visit. (There's a UK version too.)

I've been reading so many good Luna books for work lately, I'm just going to have to start a review section here. Soon!

(I don't know why, but the real Luna books site seems down. I'll see if I can get you a proper link later. For now, you're being taken to the eHarlequin Luna section, which doesn't look half as good, but it's better than having no idea at all what I'm talking about!)

Hey look, it's the office window cleaners again! *hello*

Last time they came sailing by in their little cart, I was just expressing milk. That was... awkward. At least today, I could cheerfully wave at them without compromising myself! :-p
