Someone...

king for a day

...didn't really like his crown today.

(It was Queensday in the Netherlands today)

Don't you hate it when you arrive at the office only to discover you've been commuting with little patches of snot hiding themselves in all the impossible places? Yeah, me too.

One of these days I'm going to get the little mite a muzzle.

§ Sunday 24 April 2005

My little snotmachine has gone biking with his dad, so I've got a few moments of that elusive Sunday morning peace. It's one of those days -  my eyes feel like they're still closed. They can't take all that sun. But I put on my Summer dress (I've got one) on just the same, in case it gets better soon. Sometimes, I long for the quiet days, before. But then I think of the smiles and the little arms and the babbling enthusiasm and realise that those days, actually, were pretty boring.

Totally unrelated: we've got a blackbird nesting in our garden! I'm telling Olivier to be quiet, but I don't think he really understands the concept yet. ;-)

Junghans clock We found the most beautiful old clock at a Belgian antiques store some weeks ago. It has been cleaned on the outside (thanks dad!) and inside (thanks dad's friend!) and is now happily ticking away the time in our living room. It's a Junghans, approximately 100 years old.

It chimes most impressively - on the quarter hour, (ding dong ding doooong), on the half hour (ding dong ding doooong, dong dong ding dooooong), three quarters of an hour (ding dong ding doooong, dong dong ding dooooong, ding dong ding dooooong) and the hour (ding dong ding doooong, ding dong ding dooooong, ding dong ding dooooong, dong dong ding dooooong), when it also counts the hours. Personally, I think that's a bit too much ding dong. ;-) But it's a beautiful clock nevertheless. And my mom got a real good deal! She should have been an antiques dealer. She's the Queen of Haggle. :-)

Oh me, oh my. My little boy is turning into a tiny tyrant. Over the past two days, he seems to have transformed from a sweet baby into a monster. Or so the good girls at the daycare centre told us. He's been

- hitting other children
- biting other children
- stuffing huge chunks of cake into his mouth
- stealing raisins from the babies by the handful (with the cake still in his mouth)
- generally misbehaving

I'd noticed it at home, too. Just this morning, he tried to throttle Bolke. Big tufts of hair were pulled out. Poor Bolke!!

Is this normal behaviour for a 15 months old toddler? And what on earth could have brought it on all of a sudden? Beats me. I hope he'll get back to his sweet, very energetic and slightly naughty behaviour again soon.  That, I can handle.  Oh my.

Waiting for the iPod mini

Waiting for the iPod mini

TNT says it's on its way

And that it'll get here today

Tumdeedummmm...

There, a little song for you all, just to cheer you up. ;-) You know, sometimes life isn't so bad. Even if you spend way too much money on gadgets you don't *really* need. But then when you look outside you think 'hey, it's Spring' and 'whee, I'm flying to Munich this weekend to go see my new little nephew' and life is actually pretty much ok. *nods* (Even though I hate flying. Ugh. Hey, you think they'll allow iPods mini to be played during flight?)
