§ Wednesday 19 January 2005

Last day online - tomorrow they'll pull the plug, and I've got no idea when I'll be back online again. Hope to see you soon!

§ Monday 17 January 2005

No news really. Blisters on my hands. Most of the painting's done. No time to paint the doors & doorways upstairs, that's a shame. But the bedrooms are done, and the bathroom, and the stairs. And the hallway and the downstairs toilet and the hallway. Oh, already mentioned that, did I? ;-) All done, except for a few minor details. Two more days, and then it's supposed to be finished. Or livable, at least. It's going to look great when it's all done. :-)

Olivier's doing really well too. Look at him:

Sis & Olivier

Being cuddled by sis! And my mum confessed she almost ate his little ears today. :-) Yup, we're doing fine!

Oomph. I'm aching all over! I feel like an old woman. Three days of manual work and I'm dead. Sad, eh?

Anyway. We've almost got the hallway finished. Downstairs loo almost ready. Olivier's room just needs a bit of work on the skirting boards. Living room almost done. That still leaves the guest bedroom, the kitchen, our bedroom and the bathroom upstairs. One week down, one to go. I'd say we're right on schedule. More or less. I'm conveniently leaving out the stairs... and the doors... the windowsills and frames... and probably a dozen other little things to be finished up, too.

But hey, I'm enjoying myself! Feeling a little more elated every day. To think that in less than two weeks, I'll be waking up in a new home! It's a brilliant feeling. :-)

We've got the key! The house is truly ours now! And you know? It looked great. :-) Click below for some pictures!

 our new house

Also met one of our neighbours, lovely lady. And the neighbour next to her. *LOL* It's a very friendly neigbourhood. Unfortunately, the lady has a teenage son who - she told us almost immediately - is rather fond of hardrock music.  Right. But we could at all times come over and tell her if it was too loud. Ok! *grins* But for the rest, it's great. The house looks real tidy, previous owners really did their best to make the transition go as smoothly as possible.

Pieter and me spent a few hundred Euros at the DIY this afternoon, and we'll be starting our painting frenzy tomorrow. Picked out some lovely colours... aubergine, creamy white... More pics when it's all finished, of course!

Gotta go, time for some tea and a bit of rest and relaxation before the big job. Talk later!

§ Sunday 09 January 2005

Been buying house things again. :-) We've got:

tv cabinet
The tv cabinet (ok so it's a computer cabinet really,
but that doesn't matter, our tv will be just as happy to live there)

and

crockery cabinet The crockery cabinet

Wheeee!

I'm free
To do what I want
Any old time...

Yeehaa! Three weeks! Of redecorating, packing boxes, moving & unpacking boxes! Yes, I'm finally leaving this old stinking town called Amsterdam. And believe it or not, I won't be sorry. Not one little bit. Haarlem, here we come!

We've got a bit of a tight schedule - receive key to new house on January 10, move house on January 24. And in between, paint, clean and refurbish like there's no tomorrow! I can't wait. :-)

Happy New Year everyone! May it bring lots of good to all of you.
