happy birthday! Happy birthday, Olivier! :-)

§ Wednesday 29 December 2004

Olivier, just born
One year ago at this time, I didn't even know I was about to give birth yet.

Olivier, almost one year old
And tomorrow, Olivier celebrates his first birthday. It's the strangest feeling!

§ Tuesday 28 December 2004

It was so quiet on my way to work this morning, almost eerie. Wet snow & sleet pummeling my face, so I could hardly see anything anyway, but still. I don't think there's anyone working, besides me. Ok, perhaps just a few other people. ;-)

I'm too tired for words, really. There's too much in my head at night. All these little things to be finished up at work before I leave on my well deserved vacation - ahem, before I leave to work even harder at home... All the things that need to be planned & taken care of for our move... Not the least of which is Olivier, who needs to have a safe haven when we're all running around like madmen.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Shit, and it's almost Olivier's birthday (two more days), and we still have to get him a gift and buy him (or rather: the birthday guests) a cake...

*runs off in total panic & confusion*

§ Monday 27 December 2004

We've got mice & elephants upstairs. Each time the mother of all elephants moves, there's the scurry of little mice feet, too. Somehow, it's a deeply satisfying sound. The mice defying the elephant. I like that image. I hope they're afraid of mice, the elephants.

merry christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! (It says Happy 2005 too, that's for next week!) :-)

firefox I've switched to Mozilla Firefox as my browser. Love it! Faster, far more user friendly and above all, far more logical than IE will ever be. No more nasty DSN errors, just a warning: ... cannot be found, please try again. Which lets you repair your typo in the browser address bar without having to bloody retype the whole URL. Yup, I'm in love!

Olivier's almost back to his energetic naughtly little self again. GP thought virus.  Fever broke late last afternoon (why is it that children invariably start feeling better mere minutes before the doctor arrives?!), and little mite immediately started his daaahs and deehs. Much better!

§ Friday 17 December 2004

Olivier is ill. Has been for the last three days. Very high fever, diarrhoea, threw up everything he ate and drank yesterday in one giant spurt (sorry for being so graphic!). I'm getting a bit worried now. He has been ill before, has had fever, but not like this. Poor little mite. His breathing is all off, too, and he's so drowsy he sleeps most of the day, but they're restless little naps. Our GP is coming over this afternoon to take a look. I hope it's just a cold (I'm not feeling too well myself). Or maybe one giant molar. Just nothing serious, please...

§ Sunday 12 December 2004

Less than a month to go until we get the key! I'm counting days here. I think I'll have to get me a countdown script. :-)

Meanwhile, Christmas is slowly creeping upon us. For the first time ever, we'll be spending it at the inlaws. I'm not a Christmas person, but it'll be ok. Two of Pieter's sisters (plus their kids & husband / significant other) will be there, so it'll be a family affair, just like it's supposed to be.

When I was younger, we never really celebrated Christmas the traditional way. We mostly spent it in Austria or Switzerland, frolicking in the snow, no sumptuous meals or anything. I never missed it, not really. But it's good to be together sometimes. To really see each other. And I think Olivier will enjoy the Christmas tree. ;-)

Argh! I'm getting sick and tired of comment spam! I DO NOT want to get out of debt (what debt?), I do not want to go to your stupid online casino, and I most certainly do not want pills. Beat it!

I just hope Pivot will have an inbuilt MT-Blacklist or something similar in one of its upcoming builds. Please, make it soon!
