diet grmph

Tuesday 30 January 2007, 7:29 pm

Bah. Don't think this diet is really working. My sugar levels were still too high! So I'm now also doing the torture-yourself-at-home routine, i.e., I'm checking my sugar levels 7-8 times a day by pricking my finger and feeding the resulting drop of blood into this little machine, which then spits out a glucose level that I have to note down. Going to have to phone in the results this Thursday, and then we'll see what happens. Also, another gynaecologist's appointment next week. In other words: I'm being monitored inside out.

Baby's already on the big side, but it should be okay, or so my gynaecologist said today. Regardless, they won't let this pregnancy go beyond 40 weeks; if she's still not born by that time, they're going to induce labour. I think maybe I'm going to go upstairs now and swap the tiny baby clothes in my hospital suitcase for a somewhat bigger size... perhaps I should take some of Olivier's spare clothing? I'm having these visions of a humongously fat baby - tiny head, HUGE body... ;-)

36 weeks

36 weeks today! By this time, impatient had already wriggled his way out. Not this one though. I think she rather likes it inside. :-) Had another blood test yesterday; we'll get the results on Tuesday. I'll keep you posted.

Right. Diet time folks. Just to make sure, they said.

Ugh. Well, as long as it helps... Let's just hope the little lady stays in there for the diet to start doing its work! I'll be 35 weeks pregnant tomorrow - was born at a measly 36 weeks. Oh.

In other news...

Here I am again in the middle of the night, wide awake and not feeling too well. Almost 34 weeks , and it feels like I'll never make it. To make matters worse, they think I may have pregnancy diabetes. Need to do some tests to make sure, but it's keeping me awake at night. Sigh.

believer

I'm a believer... over at sellaband.com, that is! If you haven't heard of it yet, please check it out. I think it's a wonderful initiative! I'm currently supporting a band called Slim Void.

Described by one of the other believers as "You know Saybia? Well mash that with Feeder and add a little Muse flavour and you gotta right sound!" And that's exactly what I'm looking for these days!
