I've got new hair, new shoes, a new winter coat, new trousers, new tank tops (2), a new long-sleeved shirt, and I'm certain I'm forgetting some things because I bought so much I cannot remember it all. End of season sale... ahhh.... feeling much better, thankyou.

P.S.: The hair wasn't on sale. My hair never is. And it's looking spiffy.

P.S. 2: Hello
Boxen! Good to see you again!!

Can one feel even more blurgh than the day before? Yes. One can.
My solution: bake a cake.

Oh dear.

Do you think I'm addicted? Naaaaah...
Wednesday 18 January 2006, 1:38 pm
(What? That's impossible. I just discovered that I have no category for books! It can't be! *puzzled* *click click clicky-dee-click* Right. That's better.)
I am currently reading Kate Mosse - Labyrinth (the link takes you to a most excellent site, BTW. So much to be found & discovered there) whenever I get the chance. On the train, on the metro, on the bus (not a good idea, as reading whilst in a bus makes this one nauseous), during lunch break. And if I could read on my bike, believe me, I would.
I just want to read on and on and on. No can do, since it's Production Week at work. If there are any Production-Managers-in-publishing reading this, well, you know what that means. For all others, two words should suffice: insanely busy. Damn.
But. Kate Mosse. It says on the first page:
'Labyrinth might be described as the thinking woman's summer reading, chick lit with A levels...' (Guardian)
I think that's plain silly. This is no chick lit, whether you've got
your A levels or not. It's much better. It has hidden depths. Chick
lit, to be frank, has none. Believe me, I like chick lit. Hell,
it's even one of "my" genres at work. But this book chicklit... no.
Just because the main characters are women, I suppose? Tsk.
A little bit further down something I *can* relate to:
'Eat your heart out, Dan Brown, this is the real thing.' (Val McDermid)
Yes! Because as much as I enjoyed reading The Da Vinci Code,
(*that*'s what I'd call summer reading, if not exactly chick lit
),
it just cannot compare or live up to Labyrinth. So there.
And now, it's back to work... Sigh...

Oh well. I guess we'll just slowly start looking for a new house, if
the neighbours turn out to be very annoying. A bigger place that's also
a bit closer to sis, wouldn't that be nice? Walking distance,
preferably. So that our kids could go play together.
We weren't planning on staying here for years on end anyway. Though
moving within two or three years wasn't quite what we had in mind
either. But we'll see. It's still a bit too early to make a final
judgement.
Oh, and I've disabled the last visitors thingy, 'cause the amount of
porn spam I was getting (Blacklist or no Blacklist) was simply
staggering. Bastards.

Someone please tell me: WHY? Why us?
Pieter just spoke to our new neighbours. We were hoping for people a
bit more like us, quiet. And we had been saying to each other: these
houses are so small, we won't get another family with adolescent kids. Guess what. There's two kids (18 & 22), TWO dogs, a
scooter. A mother that doesn't listen and just talks, chain smoking
cigarettes. Pieter asked if they could possibly turn off the garden
lights when they left for the day, because they shine straight into our
bedroom, and do you think they did?
Of course not. (later that night... Ok, got to be fair here: they did. I was too quick.)
But still. I don't know how much of this I can take anymore.
Thursday 12 January 2006, 2:30 pm
So this morning I was so sick that I didn't even get to see (or smell -
he smells so good) the little guy before Pieter dropped him off at
daycare. That hasn't happened in... a very long time. Except when I'm
not at home. Yes.
Anyway. I'm slowly feeling better. The killer headache has been slain
for the moment, and I even managed to hold on to a little broth. (The
pear came back within say, two minutes after eating it. That was bad.)
Ugh.

Am sick - down with a vicious virus picked up from the little guy.
Pieter has it too, Olivier's almost recovered. Yup, we're having fun
here.

Off to bed.

It was back to the grind this week for good ole me... and you know, I
think being at home was much more relaxing. Much more boring, too, of
course. After two days of cleaning I'd kind of had it with the
domesticity. But there were no trains to catch, no kiddies to drop off
at day care. Just me and the little one, having fun. Mmm. Must do it
again soon.
In other news: they're saying snow again for this weekend. I hope so! I still want to take that midnight walk.
And: no game yet!

It was mailed on Tuesday, I was told. So... where
is it?? (What do you mean, impatient? Never! Not with a two year old in
da house... Heh.)
hurray for the new expensive hair!
