Ok, so I made the boot disks, I format c-ed, d-ed, e-ed and f-ed (O, wait no I didn't because F is where my movies are). So far so good!
And then it wouldn't accept my Win 2000 Product Key, no matter what.
So in the end I reinstalled Windows ME.
BUT! I've got an all clean PC now, and The Sims 2 is running! Managed to squeeze in a good 45 minutes of game time last night - which is why I'm somewhat bleary-eyed today. Can't wait till I get home tonight. Cuddle, feed, bed for Olivier, and then... play time!

Eh. I'm going to try and format my PC so I can finally get rid of Windows bloody ME and upgrade to Windows 2000. I'm not going to bother with Windows XP at this time because we'll get a new XP-PC soon anyhow.
But dammit, The Sims 2 isn't running and I've just about had it with this machine. This here is my final attempt. Keep your fingers crossed... I've never done a format c: on my own before. Here goes...

Why is it always the days you yourself don't feel too well that the little one decides to throw multiple tantrums? Hmm? What have I done to deserve this? Go. to. sleep. Go. to. sleep. Stop rubbing your eyes and just Go. to. sleep. Little mite.

I think I'm going to have to buy The Sims 2 tomorrow.
I was completely addicted to the original Simcity, loved the Sims and played Zoo Tycoon like there was no tomorrow. What can I say... I like sim games! Ok, I like RPGs even better, but...
Must go shop tomorrow.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.
Sis and me got new bikes - I felt like I was twelve again! But in a good way. Cycling to work suddenly is a lot more pleasant. (Though it's still Amsterdam, of course, with all its rude people who invariably think they're king of the road, even on a bike.)
House news: 3 more months to go! We met up with the current inhabitants of our new house last Saturday, and they told us they're expecting to move into their new home before the end of the year, preferably before Christmas. That would mean we'd get the house January 1st at the latest. Wouldn't that be grand? It still looked great, by the way. Like...home, if you know what I mean. Welcoming. I can't wait!!
Plus, we found a daycare centre for Olivier! Right around the corner of the new house! Things are definitely looking up.
And last but not least: it's Autumn! Or at least, it feels like it. Yes, I'm doing great.

I still can't believe it, but sis and me turned 30 today.
Happy birthday to us!

I always watch this weekly documentary about midwives, have been since before Olivier was born.
Now before his birth, I was scared to death. I saw all these women in labour, having their babies, and I thought: 'I am never going to be able to do that. I'm just not ever going to be that strong.'
Then after his birth, after I'd completed the ordeal, watching the labours on TV was almost therapeutic. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt... (which still has very faint bloodstains in it.)
But now, now that he's been out longer than he ever was in (he's almost 9 months), I find myself getting scared again. Isn't that silly? Am I not supposed to remember that I can, in fact, do it, so I'll get pregnant again sometime? (Which no woman in her right mind would ever do if her brain didn't shrink during pregnancy. I think the damage is permanent. It has to be.) Er, so what went wrong?
P.S. Olivier this morning. :)

Good heaven, we really splashed out this weekend. We went shopping. Not for us, but for Junior. You just want the best for your offspring, right? Er, he'll get nothing for his birthday, this year. It's all spent. Here's the damage:
Superduper Babychair: EUR 200.-
4 Seasons kiddy sleeping bag: EUR 92.50
Luxurious footmuff for stroller: EUR 89.95
Ok, so we had all that money lying around because he got it when he was born. And besides, when he does his special smile and follows it up with a dah deh deeh, you'll buy him anything at all (sneaky little bugger). But still.

I normally don't do tests, but I kinda liked this one.
Compatibility Test - How compatible are we?
I'm a generally unfuckwitted, liberal, not-too-generous, not-too-selfish, relatively well adjusted human being!
See how compatible you are with me!
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey.
Via Agica. (With whom I'm 93% compatible, by the way.)

Someone adressed me with "ma'am" today.
Now normally, I don't care whatsoever how people address me, as long as they don't whistle or hiss. But this girl was my age. And when she asked if the bike storage near my workplace was free, she called me ma'am.
I know I'm almost 30, and I also know that the bags beneath my eyes are somewhat more pronounced than they were say, 9 months ago, but...ma'am? Heaven forbid...

Judging by Olivier's special cries (daaaaaaa, daaaaah, deeeeeeeeeh daaaaah) Saturday night, I do believe he's finally teething. And when I stick my finger in his mouth and do a quick gum-swipe, I feel... a tiny, razor sharp tip in his lower jaw!
We had a big garden party this weekend, by the way. My dad's almost sixty and has just retired, my mum is thinking about retiring, and sis and me will be 30 (gasp) soon. Big fun! Lots of old acquintances, lots of wine and candles & super lovely weather. Plus a million people admiring the first grandson, of course. With me being a very proud mum, naturally.
I've played Sims 2 almost non-stop since I got it a week ago - needless to say I'm loving it. But it's really just a fill in until WoW (www.worldofwarcraft.com) is either in open beta or finally, finally available.
